Tiny Sleeping Pad R09 AVS-World's Lightest 9.4 R-value Sleeping Pad with Automatic Inflation

I purchased this pad for a Grand Canyon hike that was supposed to be quite a bit cooler than it turned out. The smaller size and high R-value coupled with a built in inflator is what attracted me to the pad.

I was still able to use the pad, and although it is a small mummy style pad it was very comfortable. The inflator worked flawless and is a great combination to a well thought-out pad .

I had no problems with inflation/deflation or any issues leaving the pump in the socket while using the pad.

I am a smaller person at 5'9 and 170 lb. I don't think the standard would be a good fit for anybody larger. I typically sleep on my back and wrap my hands in a buff so my arms don't fall off my pad. I sometimes roll to my side and this pad was comfortable on my back or side with my hips never touching the ground.

I would love to see the same R-value pad in a wider 23-25 inch pad because I think it has a place in my gear.

Beyond keeping your body heat where you want it, I've become a big fan of the baffle style in this sleeping pad. I've got an old flex tail zero sleeping pad with an almost bubble wrap pattern for its air chambers. And the R09 is like comparing apples to oranges. While the internal air pump is impressive for it's tiny size, I would buy a version of this without the integrated air pump, as I've already got a Max pump 3 and a tiny pump 3. Further it does make it slightly more difficult to get all the air out of it roll it up tightly to Stow it away. All in all I love the pad and it will be going with me on every camping trip in the future.

Une vraie différence avec mon ancien matelas R3 c’est impressionnant. Deux nuits par -5 un bon duvet un tarp j’ai pas ressenti de froid venant du sol au contraire. Si je devais faire une remarque, ce serait que le système intégré, le gonflage est un peu volumineux, c’est quand même très pratique.

Can’t fault the design and warmth of this sleeping pad, but is summer. Once inflated and you switch the pump off it looses air. should I remove the pump then or just put the seal over ? Shoulder width is good on the regular, but it is let down by how extremely tapered at the foot end.

Previously when sleeping, I could feel the heat being pulled from my body. Not with this pad. Felt toasty while it was freezing outside. Nice and compact, and storing the pump in with the pad will hopefully help avoid my habit of losing the pump!

I'm sure it was a compromise to get an r-9 they needed to keep this one in their lineup as only a mummy shape. For reference, I have their 3 and 5 tiny mattresses as well (kickstarter). For two extremely cold nights so far it was superb at retaining heat. Just great.

Mostly comfortable. Good feel when deflated just a smidge so I sink in instead of rolling off, and I never bottomed out (160lbs). If not for my feet falling off either side all night, I'd have slept like a baby all night. If they ever make a rectangle version, I'll buy it in a heartbeat. I know when it's freezing we're all using mummy bags or (in my case a quilt cinched into mummy). But I still prefer a squared end to keep my feet off the ground if (when) I roll around at night.

Overall, great, packs SUPER small and light. My new go-to for nights at or below freezing.

Absolutely comfortable, light, compact and I like the integration of the pump!

This is a great pad, however it did deflate during the night. Im not sure if I missed it in the instructions, but you need to remove the pump from the slot so that the air valve can seal properly. Removed the pump on the second night and had no issues, excellent.
